Chicken, Broccoli, and Rice Casserole Ingredients

These are the cheap and convenient ingredients you’ll need to make this cheesy chicken, rice, and broccoli casserole:

  • Instant rice: The quick recipe starts with two cups of instant white rice cooked in two cups of water.
  • Canned chicken: Canned chunk chicken is convenient and budget-friendly. You can also use freshly cooked chicken or leftover rotisserie chicken
  • Frozen broccoli: A package of frozen chopped broccoli adds bright color and flavor.
  • Processed cheese: You’ll need a pound of processed cheese, cubed.
  • Canned soups: The rich sauce relies on a can of condensed cream of mushroom soup and a can of condensed cream of chicken soup for its velvety texture.
  • Milk: A cup of milk thins the sauce, creating the perfect consistency.
  • Butter: A half stick of butter adds richness and flavor.
  • Onion: A chopped small white onion takes the flavor up a notch.

Allrecipes Community Tips and Praise

“I just made this for dinner last night and it was delicious,” says one Allrecipes community member. “I’m lactose intolerant, so I used oat milk instead of regular milk. I also added in some celery, carrots, salt, and pepper to give it a little more flavor!”

"Fantastic recipe,” according to Kristine. “I decided to stir fry the rice with chopped bacon and onion — what a great addition!!!! Family LOVES this!”

“It was delicious,” raves another reviewer. “I did change up the recipe some because I didn't have some of the ingredients on hand. I used fresh chicken chopped into smaller bite sized pieces. Seasoned it with seasoned salt, garlic powder and freshly ground pepper. I also added a spoonful of chopped garlic.”
